Today, during my meditation,  I thought about a particular moment of my life; I thought about those days when I used to go playing soccer with my dad. Why? Not to sure why, it all started from a neck injury that keeps showing up and frustrates me because it doesn’t make me feel free. Any wrong movement I do can cause this total block and inflammation of my neck muscles debilitating me in everything I do. After exercise, chiropractic, and other healing processes, I decided to immerse myself completely into the practice of yoga and make it my first goal of my day, then of course surfing will be the second. Therefore I started reading about Chakras and I realized that the block or unbalance of the 5th chakra, the throat one, can cause a few problems and one of these is neck pain. I was meditating then to try and unlock this chakra and during my meditation I started thinking about my past. This one thought in particular caught my attention and all of the sudden I missed “Enjoy a simple moment without the thought of time, other people or the way things should be, just like when I used to go playing soccer with my dad”. Long time has passed now since then and I slowly started thinking too much about things. I have to do this; I have to do it in a certain way and in a certain time. Well, Who said so? Today I say, I decide when and whether I want to play or not, Too many limitations have been created and I now decided I want to be myself again and play the way I like.

Healing

This has been a long month for me as I had to recover from a foot injury. The first week I took a plain from Italy back to Canada with 80 kg luggage that my wife patiently managed to transport it over here, then we took a ferry, a bus, a couple of taxis and finally we got to our home in Tofino where I have been mostly sitting in front of a window overlooking the ocean and three birds that like to hang around during the day, one Eagle, one Heron and a small one with a spiky head that.

Many thoughts have gone by in my head, about life, about what’s the right thing to do in this world to be happy and to make other people happy, but mostly about health.

What’s health in a world where you need to have money in order to be happy, but to make money you often have to do a job that doesn’t make you happy then it doesn’t make you healthy!!

Well...we all know about the difference between first, and third world countries, less money, more money, les medical services, more medical services, less fancy appliances in your kitchen, the top of the top of a “professional six burners top”, 2 ovens, maxi fridge etc... all this in your kitchen...for entertainment. And I could go on filling this whole page of differences between a first world country and a third world country. But today I will talk more about health.

You may think straight away that first world countries are the lucky ones having a wonderful heath system, pills, surgeons, general doctors etc... our bodies can be fixed in a matter of a couple of hours repressing the illness we have. To be able to afford medicines we have to work and often this is accompanied by a large mortgage, because we want space for our family, may be more than what we really need, so we do jobs just to make money to pay all this for the next 20 years...Then the stress for doing the job we are doing leads us to mental healing, and so on...First world countries where there is a lot of this thing called “Money”, spend one third of their life, starting from their first loan, till they retire, healing them self from Physically...and Mentally...and hopefully it works.

Third world countries have nothing to think...WORRY about as for material things, because they don’t have any, the live of agriculture and are happy, they don’t know about greediness or care about possessing million dollars, I don’t think they can count so far, they are mentally happy till they eventually die for physical issues that exist because of the lack of medical services and sometimes the extreme poverty they live in.

Now I could go on talking about fixing the poverty in the world but this is a serious thing that goes beyond my ability. However I can definitely talk about ourselves and how to get better and improve  our life style in order to improve our health.

At the end of the day it all comes down to helping ourselves first, so that we are able to help other people after, and to help ourselves we have to go back to our birth date...the exact day we came to this world, think how healthy you were and how circumstances in life brought negative energies and therefore mental and physical problems..even as little as dry hair.

Now that we are back in time try to think how would your life be if you had nothing in your life besides the necessities, no debts, no big responsibilities, no big jobs to do every single day and the ability of no going to work one day because it won’t matter financially and It will be good for you. Then breathe and if this makes you feel good, keep this status for a little longer.

Now what you just experienced is a life that somebody would call poor...somebody else free...and you are the one that can choose. The more you have, the more responsibilities you have and the more time you will have to invest into something silly like material things, not giving yourself time to focus on you own body and psycho-physical health.

STRESS, WELTH, HAVING TO OWN THE BEST AND BIGEST THINGS...and I could go on...are all coming from speculation which is an invention of human beings.

The point is that in one month I have been checking this Eagles out, and after a few years I have been checking nature out ,I realize that the human race, although was more intelligent that animals, it lost connection with the most important source of life and health, Nature, giving more importance to things that won’t directly feed us, or make us feel better..and to create this things we are destroying mother earth.

Our health comes from little things like breathing pure air, enjoying simple things in life and not needing money to have a laugh. Health comes from taking time off every day to look into ourselves and see what’s right and what’s wrong, health comes from simplicity...and if your life is not simple anymore for choices made in the past that were wrong and you have to do something you don’t want to like a job you don’t like, remember that we are always on time to reduce our load getting rid of things that we own and we don’t need,  you will be surprised how better and lighter your heart will feel just cleaning you house of useless objects.

Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.
